Trex

My show will push underground drum and bass. There will be lots of dubs from my label Trust Audio and myself with a focus on cutting edge, upfront music.

About

You just need to check his discography to see that the category-defying drum 'n' bass artist Trex has been operating at the highest levels for well over a decade now.

Releases on gold-standard labels like mau5trap, Metalheadz, Dispatch, mac2, Born on Road and Sofa Sound tell the story of the versatility of his style; treading the line between high-energy rave ignition and heartfelt musicality.

You see, Trex's journey has never been about following trends or conforming to sub-genres. It's more personal than that.

Learning the craft of DJ’ing as a child and developing a passion for beats and production, he was initially all about the crate-dug samples, repurposed soul and funk grooves, and heavyweight basslines of hip-hop. Then, moving to Bristol in the late nineties opened his eyes to a whole new musical world. One populated by icons like Roni Size and the Ruffneck Ting crew, who took those same elements, reconfigured them into drum 'n' bass, and created magic with it. The young Trex fell in love.

So, it was first and foremost as a fan that Trex connected with the music. That's what's fuelled him along his path through the scene.

It was his wife – a musician in her own right – who encouraged him to turn his talent from a private passion into a career. And it didn't take long for him to make an impact. Releasing on Cybin's Lockdown Recordings built his name, and he was permanently propelled into the scene's consciousness when the almighty Randall signed his and Jaybee's 'Shadow Era EP' to mac2.

Now, with two full-length albums under his belt for mac2, an unstoppable torrent of singles and EPs on all kinds of imprints, and a passport-battering deejaying schedule, Trex has proven himself to be a highly in-demand artist. He's performed across many different countries, to all kinds of audiences, with the skill, knowledge and experience to read his audience and deliver exactly what each rave or festival crowd requires.

Trex's passion for the music extends even further. Through his own Trust Audio label, he's nurturing a whole new generation of artists, as well as curating output from established A-listers like Digital, T>I and DLR. At the same time, his own back cat keeps expanding, with incessantly fresh Trex beats arriving all the time.

Even with all that on his CV, his well of craft and creativity is as brimful as ever. There's so much more just around the corner. So, lock in for the next episodes in the Trex story. They're going to be unmissable.
