About

Since releasing his first 12-inch in 2005, Shonky has cultivated a signature sound and a style entirely his own, becoming one of the key figures of Paris’ electronic music scene. Alongside his Apollonia co-founders Dan Ghenacia and Dyed Soundorom, he has helped re-establish the French capital’s prominence on the global stage. Over the years, Shonky has travelled the world, bringing his distinctive blend of groovy, tech-infused house music to club and festival audiences from Miami to Moscow and beyond. At the same time, he has continually refined his production skills, releasing a steady stream of acclaimed records on labels including Freak N’Chic, Mobilee, Contexterrior, Real Tone, and Apollonia.

A dedicated clubber from his teenage years, Shonky took his first steps into the underground DJ scene at the legendary Batofar after-hours parties in Paris. It was there that he discovered a passion for the sounds of 1990s San Francisco house, championed by resident DJ Dan Ghenacia. Their friendship would later become the foundation of Apollonia, together with fellow Parisian Dyed Soundorom. Ghenacia quickly recognised Shonky’s natural talent for production, praising his ability to consistently create flawless music. This gift was evident in early releases such as Olympia on Freak N’Chic and his celebrated remix of Danton Eeprom’s All I Can Say. In 2008, Shonky released his debut album, Time Zero, a ten-track journey through hypnotic and cosmic house sounds.

The releases Roudor & Capulet and Chocotox in 2009 marked a significant turning point in his artistic evolution, introducing a groove-driven sound infused with hypnotic vocals. The following years proved highly productive, with releases on Crosstown Rebels, Contexterrior, Culprit, and Real Tone. Among these, Le Velour became one of his defining records and was later reissued with remixes from house music legends including Mr. Fingers, Delano Smith, and The Martinez Brothers. In 2012, Shonky became the first artist to release on Apollonia with The Minneapolis Touch, followed by Tyrolien in 2017.

The unmistakable “Shonk” sound extends beyond the studio into his DJ performances, characterised by infectious grooves and rhythms that keep dancefloors moving deep into the night. His extensive list of appearances includes renowned venues such as Rex Club in Paris, Gipsy in Moscow, fabric in London, Louche in Leeds, and Club der Visionaere in Berlin. Since relocating to Berlin in 2009, he has also become a regular guest at Panorama Bar, one of the world's most respected clubs.

Beyond his solo career, Shonky continues to represent Apollonia alongside Dan Ghenacia and Dyed Soundorom. Formed in 2012, the trio established their unique back-to-back-to-back DJ concept while simultaneously launching the Apollonia label. Their marathon performances, often lasting anywhere from five to twelve hours, have made them one of the most sought-after DJ groups in the world. Through both their innovative performance style and influential releases, Apollonia has played a major role in reaffirming Paris as a leading destination for electronic music.

More recently, Shonky launched his own label, Stoned Pilot (@stonedpilot_), further demonstrating his enduring creativity and commitment to pushing musical boundaries. With years of experience behind him, he remains a master of his craft—whether behind the decks or in the studio. His infectious energy, passion for music, and relentless dedication continue to define everything he does. Naturally talented, hardworking, and widely respected throughout the industry, Shonky remains one of Paris’ finest electronic music exports.
