Nomine

About

Nomine, also known as Outrage, is a producer, DJ, label owner and educator whose career spans three decades of UK underground music. From pirate radio and jungle to dubstep and more experimental work, his music reflects a broad range of influences, connected by a recognisable approach to bass, rhythm and atmosphere. His primary focus is now Dance To Nomine, bringing together a new label, releases, events and collaborations with dancers and movement artists, with a new album in progress for release in 2026.

His journey began in Bedford in 1995 as DJ Rage, when he established pirate radio station Shock FM alongside friends. By 16, he was travelling abroad to DJ, building the foundations of a career that would take him around the world. Alongside performing, he founded Jungle Lix, a DJ mail order promo company that later became Connections, handling exclusive drum & bass releases. Appearances on Rinse FM and years of international touring followed, with the name Outrage adopted out of respect for MC Rage.

As Outrage, he became an established part of the jungle and drum & bass scene, with releases on Goldie’s Metalheadz and Digital’s Function Records, alongside co-production and remix work with Adam F. His longstanding collaboration with Digital included their joint album Red Letter, while his involvement in the J-Tek movement explored the relationship between jungle breakbeats and techno rhythms. In 2024, he released his debut solo Outrage album, Behind The Eyes, on Function Records. Drawing together different strands of his drum & bass history, it was selected among DJ Mag’s top albums of the year.
The Nomine alias opened up a different space for his production. Releases on Tempa, Sentry Records and his own Nomine Sound label explored dub, sparse percussion, deep sub bass and influences beyond the club. Through those records and international performances, his music also found a connection with dancers, whose interpretations became an increasingly important part of the project.

Alongside his music career, he founded Education & Bass in 2017. His work with the music technology learning platform extended into alternative education, special schools and prison education, supporting people with a wide range of learning and access needs. He recently stepped back from that work to devote more time to his own music and the development of Dance To Nomine.

Dance To Nomine builds on the longstanding relationship between his music and movement. It provides a home for collaborations with dancers, musicians and artists from different cultures and disciplines, giving them space to interpret the music in their own way. That approach extends into events, with plans bringing together live performances of his original music alongside dancers, and ecstatic-dance DJ sets that invite the audience to move.

Launched in 2026, the Dance To Nomine label has released The Rain, followed by Mirage and Filthy, both featuring Zeyneb. The releases bring together acoustic textures, vocals, layered percussion and the bass weight associated with Nomine. With a new album planned for 2026, his attention is now centred on developing this body of work and bringing it to life through dance collaborations and live events.
