Lady Shaka (Shakaiah Perez) is a genre-breaking Afro Pasifika DJ, producer, and multidisciplinary artist from Aotearoa, now based in London. Known for her electrifying energy and cultural depth, she fuses global club styles like ballroom, techno, UK bass, and kuduro with traditional Pacific rhythms, chants, and percussion to create her own fierce sound: Pasifika Club. Her sets are more than music—they are immersive, high vibe ceremonies that celebrate queer identity, Indigenous resistance, and ancestral power. Layering live poi, te reo Māori vocals, and voguing energy into her performances, Lady Shaka transforms dancefloors into cultural spaces where joy, resistance, and healing co exist. Since beginning her DJ career in 2018, she has performed at Boiler Room events across the globe and made history by bringing Boiler Room to the Pacific for the first time in 2024. She also founded Pulotu Underworld, a radical club night and arts collective uplifting Pacific artists and communities through decolonial storytelling and sound. Her debut single “E Tu” (2024) is a bold, club ready anthem infused with Polynesian rhythm and revolutionary spirit. Named the winner of the Creative New Zealand Arts Culture and Creativity Award in 2023, Lady Shaka is reshaping the future of global dance music with deep roots and a fearless pulse.
